The new note will be issued for the first time from Bangladesh Bank’s Motijheel office and will gradually be available at other branches nationwide. The note carries the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur and measures 152 mm in length and 65 mm in width.
The front left side of the note depicts the central Shaheed Minar, while the center features a watermark of the national flower, the Shapla, with leaves. The back of the note displays the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
Significant changes have also been made to security features. The watermark now includes the face of the Royal Bengal Tiger, below which an electrotype “500” and the Bangladesh Bank monogram are visible. The predominantly green color distinguishes the note.
The note incorporates 10 special security features, including color-shifting ink, which changes the right-side “500” from green to blue when tilted. Red–gold threads reveal “500 Taka” when exposed to light. For the visually impaired, five raised circles are located at the lower right. Parts of the Shaheed Minar are printed in intaglio, allowing a tactile feel.
Bangladesh Bank stated that this note is part of the “Historic and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh” series. Earlier notes in this series include denominations of 1000, 100, 50, and 20 Taka.
Existing notes and coins remain valid. Additionally, special non-circulating collector’s notes are being issued, which can be purchased at the designated price from the Money Museum in Mirpur.
