Following recent failures by the Bangladesh cricket team, assistant coach Mohammad Salauddin has decided to step down. After the team’s whitewash in the T20 series against the West Indies and a similar outcome against Afghanistan in the ODI series, Salauddin faced criticism for the team’s poor performance.
Sources say he will no longer be with the team after the upcoming Ireland series. Salauddin joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board on 5 November last year with a contract extending to the 2027 World Cup but resigned in less than a year due to personal reasons.
In an interview with CricBuzz, he confirmed, “Yes, I am resigning,” but did not disclose further details.
Salauddin was in charge of the national team’s batting unit after David Hemp’s departure. Recent batting failures and poor team performance led to criticism of him.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has already appointed Mohammad Ashraful as the new batting coach. According to the Ireland tour schedule, the team will arrive in Bangladesh on 6 November. The tour will include two Tests and three T20 matches. The first Test will be held in Sylhet from 11–15 November, the second in Dhaka from 19–23 November, and the three T20 matches in Chattogram on 27, 29 November, and 2 December.
