Arifin Shuvo in Sony LIV Series ‘Jazz City’ as Central Character

On Tuesday evening, Sony LIV released the teaser for the highly anticipated series. The teaser immediately made Shuvo the focus of social media. Fans say that after proving himself in Dhallywood and Tollywood, he is now set to establish a strong presence in Bollywood.

In the Sony LIV production, Arifin Shuvo plays the role of Jimmy Roy. The teaser clearly shows that the story revolves around his character. The series will follow Jimmy Roy through emotional conflicts and narrative twists.

Shuvo appears in multiple looks in the teaser. At times, he is in a grey suit, serious and composed, and elsewhere, in a white suit, dancing to musical rhythms. His retro costumes, hairstyles, and body language convincingly reflect the 1970s era.

Speaking about his character, Shuvo said, “‘Jazz City’ is a story where music, alongside dialogues, tells the tale. Silence, emotion, and jazz music together create a unique experience.” Notably, he delivers lines in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, and English.

Jazz City is set in the post-Liberation War period in Bangladesh and the 1970s’ social and political context, highlighting societal changes, unrest, and internal human conflicts. The series is directed and written by Soumik Sen, who previously worked on the popular web series Jubilee. Shuvo’s co-star is Sauraseni Mitra, along with other known faces from Bollywood and Tollywood.

Sony LIV announced that Jazz City will release on February 6, 2026. Meanwhile, Arifin Shuvo’s latest film in theaters is Nilchakra, and another upcoming film is Thikana Bangladesh. Fans are confident that Jazz City will open new doors for his Bollywood journey.
