Dhaka: After a period of uncertainty and legal complications, it has now been confirmed that the Argentina national football team will visit Kerala, India, in November to play a FIFA friendly match. The world champions, led by Lionel Messi, will come to India, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced on Friday.
According to earlier announcements, Argentina will play three matches during the November FIFA window. One of these matches will take place in Kerala, India, while the other two will be held in Luanda, Angola. The opponent for the India match has not yet been finalized.
This marks Argentina’s return to India after 2011, when Messi and his teammates played a friendly against Venezuela at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium.
The Kerala government has finalized the agreement with the Football Association through the broadcasting company ‘Reporter’. A few days of uncertainty arose prior to the tour due to disputes over contract terms, but these issues have now been resolved.
Additionally, Messi will also visit India for a personal tour in December, traveling to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Delhi after Kolkata.
This visit provides Indian football fans with a major opportunity to watch Lionel Messi and the world champion Argentina team play live.
