In a pre-World Cup friendly, the Argentina national football team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Zambia 5-0, boosting confidence ahead of the tournament.
Playing at home, Argentina adopted an attacking strategy from the start. Captain Lionel Messi started in the lineup, helping restore team rhythm. The hosts scored two goals in the first half, initiated by Julián Álvarez. Messi added a second goal to extend the lead. In the second half, Nicolás Otamendi scored from a penalty, followed by an own goal from an opponent, increasing the margin further. Valentín Barco scored the final goal during added time.
Previously, Argentina had underperformed in another friendly, but tactical adjustments by coach Lionel Scaloni helped the team fully recover. This was Argentina’s final pre-tournament friendly at home. Two consecutive wins in preparatory matches have boosted the team’s confidence for the upcoming World Cup campaign.
