The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) have decided to suspend all previously scheduled departmental and institute exams for the current week after clashes erupted between students and locals.
In an emergency notice signed by the university’s Controller of Examinations, Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, issued on Monday (September 1), it was stated that all exams for the university’s departments will be suspended on Tuesday (September 2), Wednesday (September 3), and Thursday (September 4).
The incident began on Saturday night (August 30) near Gate 2 of the university campus when a female student was harassed. Following this, students began protesting on Sunday morning, and further clashes occurred around noon. The violence left the Vice-Chancellor, Proctor, and thousands of students injured. To control the situation, Section 144 was imposed until midnight on September 1.
As a result of this decision, all departmental exams at CU will remain suspended throughout the current week.
