Algeria has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. On Monday, in a match held in Algeria’s coastal city Oran, Algeria defeated Somalia 3-0, securing their place in the World Cup as the fourth African team to qualify. Algeria last played in the 2014 Brazil World Cup, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Germany. This will be their fourth World Cup appearance.
In the match, Riyad Mahrez gave Algeria the lead in the 19th minute with his goal. In the 70th minute, Mahrez scored two more goals through Amin Amoura, ensuring Algeria’s victory.
The African teams confirmed for this World Cup so far are Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria. Additionally, a total of 20 teams have already qualified, including the host nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
