With the songs ‘Whistle’ and ‘Boombayah,’ South Korea's four-member K-pop girl group BLACKPINK made its global debut on August 8, 2016. The group, consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, is now completing a decade since the beginning of its journey.
The four members are celebrating this special 10th anniversary together. They are also expected to take part in a small special event with fans in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Although the venue has been kept secret, 40 selected fans will have the opportunity to attend. All four members are expected to be present at the event.
After nearly a year, the four members will once again appear together in front of fans in South Korea. Previously, they were seen together on one stage in July 2025 at a concert of their ‘Deadline’ world tour in Goyang, on the outskirts of Seoul.
Over the course of a decade, BLACKPINK has established itself not only as one of the most popular groups in K-pop but also as one of the most influential female musical acts in global music. A series of hit songs, international concerts and the members' involvement with world-renowned fashion and luxury brands have further expanded their identities and influence.
The group's 2022 album ‘Born Pink’ achieved major success in the international music industry. It became the first album by a female K-pop artist to reach No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. At the same time, the album also reached the top position on the UK's Official Albums Chart.
After a lengthy break, BLACKPINK released its third EP, ‘Deadline,’ as a group project in February this year. The album reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.
A major change came in BLACKPINK's decade-long journey in December 2023. While all four members maintained their relationship with YG Entertainment for group activities, they chose separate paths for managing their individual careers.
Jennie established her own company, ‘Odd Atelier.’ Lisa founded ‘LLOUD.’ Jisoo launched ‘BLISSOO.’ Meanwhile, Rosé began working with ‘The Black Label.’
All four members have also achieved notable success in their solo careers.
Rosé's song ‘APT.’, a collaboration with Bruno Mars, became hugely popular around the world. Following the success of the song, Rosé became the first K-pop artist to win the Song of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Jennie has also strengthened her position as a solo artist. Her debut solo album ‘Ruby’ received a strong response from international listeners. Her song ‘Dracula,’ made with Tame Impala, also entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Jisoo has established herself in acting alongside music. In addition to expanding the scope of her work as a solo artist, she has reached new audiences through acting.
Lisa has also moved beyond music and entered acting. Through her appearance in HBO's popular series ‘The White Lotus,’ she appeared before international audiences in a new capacity. This year, Lisa also performed at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup.
Although the four members have taken separate paths in their individual careers, their bond as BLACKPINK remains intact. Even after achieving success with their solo projects as well as group music, fans remain particularly interested in seeing the four members together.
A decade after their debut, the BLACKPINK story is therefore not simply the success story of four artists forming a musical group. It is also a significant chapter in the global expansion of K-pop, the individual growth of four artists and the growing influence of Asian stars in the global entertainment and fashion industries.
