24 female candidates set to win unopposed in hall and central student union elections at Chittagong University

The Election Commission has released the preliminary list for the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUSU) and hall union elections. Due to the absence of opponents in various halls, a total of 24 candidates are set to win unopposed, of whom 21 are women.

Professor Dr. A K M Ariful Haq Siddiqui, Member Secretary of the CUSU Election Commission, stated that in Shahjalal Hall, Mohammad Tanvir Hasan Pranto is elected unopposed as Reading Room, Dining, and Hall Library Secretary. Among women’s halls, 24 candidates are winning unopposed, including positions in Nawab Faizunnesa, Preetilata, and Shamsunnahar Halls.

In Nawab Faizunnesa Hall, Parmita Chakma is elected as Vice President, Iti Chakma as Sports and Games Secretary, Pratyasha Chakma as Literature, Culture, and Publication Secretary, and Aparajita Barua as Office Secretary. In Preetilata Hall, Antara Chakma and Sirajum Munira, and in Shamsunnahar Hall, Saimun Sadia, Mosha Nishad Jannat, along with five other candidates, are also elected unopposed.

In the preliminary selection, 19 candidates’ nominations were canceled. However, those who were rejected can reapply. The last date for withdrawing nominations is September 23, objections can be submitted and resolved by September 24, and the final candidate list will be published on September 25. Voting will be held on October 12 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
