The Ministry of Education has canceled MPO benefits for 117 teachers across the country after fake certificates were found during verification by the National University Teacher Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA). Legal action against those involved has also begun.

A separate notice issued on Sunday (May 24) confirmed the decision. According to the notification, the action has been taken under clause 18 of the 2026 MPO policy for private educational institutions (madrasas).

In addition, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) issued show-cause notices to 24 college-level teachers over allegations of fake certificates. The notices were issued by the private college branch of the directorate.

Internal audit data from the ministry shows that a total of 85 fake or fraudulent certificate holders were identified, including 24 college-level and 61 school-level teachers. NTRCA verification confirmed these certificates as fake.

The order also states that those who received MPO benefits using fake certificates will face recovery of salary and allowances, along with legal action and possible lawsuits.

The education directorate has instructed the concerned teachers to respond in writing within 10 working days explaining why their MPO should not be canceled or suspended and why their appointments should not be declared invalid.

It has also been stated that such verification activities will be further strengthened to ensure transparency in the education sector and proper use of government funds.
