Nearly 1,200 technical teachers appointed through the 6th and 7th recruitment circulars of NTRCA have been deprived of monthly salaries and allowances due to delays in MPO (Monthly Pay Order) approval. Despite working for months, they are facing severe financial and mental stress.

A teacher from a technical school in Tangail, identified as Sifat Khan (pseudonym), was appointed on January 18 this year through the 6th recruitment circular but has not received any salary for the past five months. Like him, around 1,200 teachers across different districts have been working without pay for five to ten months.

The teachers allege that although their recruitment and joining processes have been completed, salaries are not being paid due to the lack of MPO approval. As a result, they are struggling to manage household expenses, rent, children’s education, and medical costs.

According to sources, NTRCA published the 6th recruitment circular in July 2025, recommending around 40,000 teachers. Among them, 16,000 teachers joined various institutions under the Directorate of Technical Education in August of the same year. Later, in January 2026, more than 1,000 teachers were recruited through the 7th recruitment circular.

Teachers claim that while teachers under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and the Madrasa Education Directorate receive regular salaries through online MPO systems, technical teachers face prolonged delays due to administrative complications.

Several teachers, speaking anonymously, said that despite being appointed under the same system, they have not received salaries for 5 to 10 months, forcing them into debt and severely affecting family life.

Some teachers also alleged that due to the absence of index numbers and MPO processing, they remain in uncertainty despite continuing their teaching duties regularly.

An official from the Directorate of Technical Education said that two meetings have already been held regarding teachers from the 7th recruitment cycle. He expressed hope that MPO inclusion will begin from the new fiscal year, and pending payments for 6th-cycle teachers will also be addressed.

Meanwhile, an official from the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry of Education said that MPO-related activities are primarily the responsibility of the directorate, but the matter will be given due importance and steps will be taken for resolution.

The affected teachers have demanded immediate MPO inclusion and clearance of pending salaries, stating that prolonged unpaid service is damaging both professional dignity and family stability.
