Confusion over start date of Honors first-year classes amid Eid holidays

Confusion and uncertainty have arisen among new students of the 2025–26 academic session of National University regarding the start of Honors first-year classes, which were scheduled to begin on June 2, due to overlapping Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

According to university admission instructions, classes were supposed to start on June 2. However, according to affiliated colleges’ holiday schedules, all academic activities will remain closed from May 24 to June 4 for Eid-ul-Azha. With additional weekly holidays on June 5 and 6 (Friday and Saturday), it will effectively not be possible to start classes before June 7.

This has created confusion among students about whether classes will actually begin on the scheduled date.

According to college notices, only academic activities will remain suspended during the holidays, while administrative work, admission form processing, and office activities will continue.

The second merit list for admissions has already been published by National University. Students have been instructed to complete online form filling, fee payment, and college confirmation within the given deadline.

Although no new official instruction has been issued regarding class commencement, most affiliated colleges are preparing to start classes from June 7.

Shamsul Huda Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sherpur Government College and a member of the admission committee, said that due to the holidays, it will not be possible to start classes on June 2, and classes will begin on June 7 according to college-level decisions.

Similar information has been found in other college notices as well, where classes are expected to begin after Eid holidays from June 7.

As a result, although confusion remains, it is highly likely that academic activities for the new session will start from June 7, according to concerned authorities.
