Voting Begins for BCB Election; President Aminul Islam’s Victory Almost Certain

Voting for the country’s cricket board directors began today at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The election will continue until 4:00 PM. Many, including the current president Aminul Islam, have already cast their votes.

Out of 10 directors from districts and divisions, 8 have been elected almost unanimously. The list of candidates in the club category is also nearly finalized. In Category-3, the contest is between Khaled Masud and Debbrata Pal, though Masud’s victory is expected to be certain.

The leadership of President Aminul Islam and one vice president, Nazmul Abedin, has already been confirmed. However, there has been controversy regarding the election of the second vice president. Among the potential candidates, none are entirely free of controversy, and some are on watchlists due to involvement in BPL fixing investigations or as business beneficiaries.

The policymakers are trying to select a candidate for the second vice president who is actively involved in sports and free from controversies. If a suitable candidate is not found, the position may remain vacant temporarily, or the board may operate with only one vice president.

The election is expected to conclude this evening, and President Aminul Islam is likely to assume office again.
