Prosun Rahman’s Film ‘Shekor’ to Have International Premiere in Toronto

Director Prosun Rahman’s new film ‘Shekor’ will be showcased at its international premiere at the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFSA) in Toronto, Canada, before its release in theaters in Bangladesh. The premiere is scheduled for October 18, and the director will also be present.

The film tells the story of people who become disconnected from their roots and later embark on a journey to rediscover them. The lead roles are played by FS Nayeem and Aisha Khan, with supporting performances by Dilara Jaman, Samu Chowdhury, Sangita Chowdhury, Nafis Ahmed, Nairuz Sifat, Rownak Ripon, Fatematuz Johra Eva, and child actor Muntaha Emilias.

Director Prosun Rahman said, “We are often separated from our roots by life’s demands, and then we try to return to the scent of the soil where we were born. This is an attempt to look back at the life we left behind, drawn by the pull of our homeland.”

The screenplay and dialogues were written by Prosun Rahman, based on the novel by Sanaul Mostafa. The film is produced by Imation Creator, and shooting took place in Gazipur, Rajshahi, and Kushtia. Music direction is by Rokon Emon. The film is planned for a nationwide release next year during Eid-ul-Fitr.
