Vibe Coding: Helpful for Speed, But Risky Without Caution

Recently, experienced programmers have been turning to AI-generated code for the sake of speed, but it often feels like a “babysitting” experience. Carla Rover, citing a notable example, mentioned that she used AI-generated code for her startup project to save time, but later had to restart the entire project. AI-generated code can have security issues, inaccuracies, and missing elements, which are difficult to detect without human oversight.

Experts believe that while vibe coding is effective for idea mockups or prototyping, human supervision is essential for production code. A significant amount of experienced developers’ time is spent verifying and correcting errors in AI-generated code.

At the same time, vibe coding introduces new types of security risks, especially in startups. However, with proper management and security checks, AI code can be used safely and help projects progress quickly.

Many experienced programmers acknowledge the benefits of AI code but remain cautious, as even though it is easy to use, mistakes can severely impact production environments.
