In Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, two consecutive fires in one night spread panic in the Rohingya camp area. Early Friday morning, a health center in Camp-4, Block D, was completely destroyed by fire. Hours earlier, five homes had burned in the registered Kutupalong camp.
The fire at the “OBAT Health Post” began around 5:00 AM, rapidly spreading until it was brought under control around 7:30 AM. While no casualties were reported, the entire structure, medical equipment, medicines, and important documents were destroyed, causing an estimated loss of several crore BDT.
Earlier on Thursday night, five homes burned in Kutupalong camp, highlighting the recurring fire hazards. Residents fear worsening humanitarian conditions during the winter.
