Three Bangladeshis killed, including father and son, in road accident in New York

In a tragic road accident in the U.S. state of New York, three Bangladeshis, including a father and his son, have lost their lives. Two others were seriously injured in the incident and are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The accident occurred on Monday (April 6) at around 7:30 PM local time on Route 9-H, Van Wyck Lane, in the Albany area. This was confirmed on Wednesday (April 8) by expatriate Bangladeshi Mohammad Nasir Uddin.

The deceased are Hiramon (60) from Koribari village, Muradnagar, Comilla, his son Nazmul Robel (30), and Robel’s friend Fahim Alim (27). They resided in Loudonville, New York.

Among the injured are Hiramon’s elder daughter Ratna (33) and her one-year-old daughter Ikra, who are currently being treated at a hospital in Albany.

According to expatriate community sources, the victims were traveling in a private car at the time of the accident, driven by Nazmul Robel. On the way, the vehicle lost control, crossed the median, and collided head-on with a Toyota Crown coming from the opposite direction. The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of three individuals at the scene.

This tragic incident has cast a shadow of deep grief over the Bangladeshi community in New York. Family members of the deceased have announced that the funeral prayers will be held on Wednesday, following the Dhuhr prayer, at the Baitul Aman Islamic Center in the Bronx. Their bodies will later be buried at the Muslim cemetery in Marlboro, New Jersey.

Family members have expressed profound sorrow over the accident and requested prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
