In Gazipur city’s Konabari area, a severe fire broke out in three jute warehouses of Yasin Enterprise. After prolonged efforts by the fire service, the fire was brought under control, and removal of the remaining debris and dumping operations are ongoing.
The fire began in the early hours of Friday (26 December). Five fire service units responded, working continuously until around 1:00 PM to control the blaze.
According to fire service and local sources, the fire started around 4:00 AM near a tin-roofed mosque in Bagbari. Initially confined to one warehouse, it quickly spread to two others. While locals attempted to extinguish it, the intensity of the fire made it impossible.
Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Saiful Islam said that although the fire is under control, complete extinguishment is taking more time. No casualties have been reported, but significant financial losses are expected due to the destroyed jute stocks. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
