At Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, three more children have died in one day while receiving treatment for cholera-like symptoms. These deaths occurred between Tuesday (April 7) afternoon and Wednesday (April 8) afternoon in the hospital’s cholera isolation ward.
The hospital authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased children. The recent incidents have heightened concern over the ongoing outbreak.
Hospital spokesperson Dr. Shankar Kumar Bissash stated that 23 new patients with cholera symptoms were admitted over the past 24 hours, while 10 patients were discharged after recovery during the same period.
Currently, 133 patients are receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for cholera-like symptoms. Since the start of the outbreak, a total of 452 patients have been admitted, with 46 deaths reported so far.
Earlier, between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, one child had also died from similar symptoms.
Health experts have emphasized the urgent need to strengthen vaccination campaigns and ensure rapid medical attention for affected patients. They have also urged parents to remain vigilant.
