Two drug traffickers arrested in Dinajpur with 2,000 narcotic injections in special operation

Police arrested two drug traffickers with 2,000 pieces of narcotic injections during a special operation in Hili of Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur. The arrests were made early Sunday (May 24) in an operation conducted in the Hili checkpost road area.

The arrested individuals are Suruj Khan, son of the late Azad Khan of North Basudebpur area of Hili, and Rabiul Islam, son of the late Hasan Ali of the same area.

According to police sources, acting on a secret tip-off that a drug consignment was entering the country through the India-border area and being sold locally, a patrol team from Hakimpur Police Station carried out the operation. During the raid, several individuals attempted to flee upon noticing police presence, but Suruj and Rabiul were arrested. However, another person accompanying them managed to escape.

A search of a bag carried by the arrested individuals led to the recovery of 2,000 narcotic injections. A case was later filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.

Hakimpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakir Hossain said that operations against drug smuggling and sales in the border area will continue. The arrested individuals were sent to jail through court on Sunday afternoon.
