U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to discuss ending the Gaza war and the future of the devastated region.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that during the meeting, Trump will discuss the possible withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, deployment of regional troops for peacekeeping, and proposals for creating a reconstruction fund.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has already expressed readiness to send peacekeeping forces to Gaza. At a conference organized by France and Saudi Arabia on Monday, he said, “We are ready to participate in the journey for peace and, if necessary, deploy peacekeeping forces.”
In the proposed plan, Hamas is not assigned any role; instead, the U.S. and Israel have reiterated their demand for the group’s disarmament and elimination. However, partial involvement of the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been considered, which Tel Aviv has previously rejected.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 65,000 people have been killed in the nearly two-year-long conflict. Despite widespread food shortages and humanitarian crises reducing the region to rubble, no clear progress toward a lasting ceasefire has yet been observed.
