Staff Report: PNN
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns for corporate taxpayers by another month. According to the new decision, returns can now be filed until 15 May.
This information was announced through a notification issued on Monday. The previous deadline, after several extensions, was 15 April.
The notification, signed by NBR’s Second Secretary of Tax Policy Md. Ekramul Haque, stated that this extension was made under the authority of the Income Tax Act, 2023.
The new instruction clarifies that the extension applies to all taxpayers except individual taxpayers and Hindu Undivided Families (HUF). This means that mainly companies and institutional taxpayers will benefit from the extended time.
Relevant officials believe that many organizations were unable to complete preparation of their returns within the scheduled time, and therefore this decision was made for the convenience of taxpayers. It is expected that this will allow proper preparation and submission of tax returns.
