A significant inflow of remittances has been observed in the country during the first 12 days of the current April. During this period, expatriate income worth 143 crore 70 lakh US dollars has entered the country, which is approximately 17,594 crore Bangladeshi taka (calculated at 122.30 taka per dollar).

On Monday (13 April), this information was provided by Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan. He said that during this period, an average of around 11 crore 98 lakh dollars per day has entered the country as remittance.

According to central bank data, remittance inflow has increased significantly compared to the same period last year. In the same period of 2025, the country had received 105 crore 20 lakh dollars, which is much lower than this year.

In addition, from July of the current 2025–26 fiscal year up to 12 April, total remittance inflow has reached 2,764 crore 50 lakh dollars, which is about 21.10 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

In recent months as well, an upward trend in remittance inflow has been observed. In March alone, the country received 375 crore 50 lakh dollars, which is the highest ever recorded in a single month. Earlier, in February, 302 crore 7 lakh 60 thousand dollars were received, and in January, 317 crore 9 lakh 40 thousand dollars were received.

Analysts say that incentives for expatriates to send money through legal channels and increased use of formal banking channels have contributed to this positive trend in remittance inflow.
