International Desk | PNN:
Even amid the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza, three Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. Local medical sources reported that today (Friday), one person was killed by Israeli gunfire in the East Bureij refugee camp. Earlier, Nasser Hospital confirmed that two more Palestinians died in separate Israeli attacks—one in a drone strike, and another succumbed to injuries sustained from Israeli forces a few days earlier.
On the same day, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees reported that it has a three-month food supply for Gaza residents, but Israeli authorities are preventing its delivery. UNRWA tweeted: “Aid has not yet reached Gaza, and assistance has been blocked for more than seven months.”
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities stated that preparations are underway to open the Gaza-Med Egypt Rafah border for movement of people, although the exact date will be announced later.
The medical situation in Gaza remains critical. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Hospital, said that despite the ceasefire, there has been no significant improvement in health services. In this context, the UN and various humanitarian organizations are seeking to increase international pressure to deliver aid to Gaza residents.
Turkey’s Minister of National Defense, Yasar Guler, stated that Turkey is prepared to join a peacekeeping mission in Gaza. He said that the Turkish military is ready to participate and emphasized the need for international cooperation to establish peace in Gaza.
Left-wing political parties in Italy have also expressed support for sending a peacekeeping force to Gaza. The Democratic Party and Five Star Movement (M5S) voiced their backing for the Italian government’s plan.
Meanwhile, humanitarian aid trucks are moving toward Gaza through Egypt’s Rafah border, and the World Food Programme (WFP) has started delivering flour and other essential supplies. However, UNRWA and other agencies are still waiting for Israeli authorization to send additional aid.
This humanitarian crisis in Gaza underscores the urgent need for the international community to take coordinated and effective action to save the lives of millions of people living in the region.
