Three killed, at least thirty injured in head-on collision between bus and RAB coaster in Patuakhali

A severe road accident in Fatulla area of Patuakhali has left three people dead and at least thirty injured. The incident occurred on Saturday (October 11) around 9 AM on the Dhaka–Kuakata Highway, when a passenger bus of Dhanshiri Transport collided head-on with a RAB-8 coaster.

Among the deceased are RAB member ASI Abdul Alim (34), a woman named Afroza (28), and a child named Piyas. Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.

According to RAB-8 sources, the coaster had set off in the morning with around 30 passengers for a trip to Kuakata. Upon reaching Fatulla Bazaar area, it collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the coaster was crushed, and three people died on the spot.

Police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene upon receiving the news and began rescue operations. The injured were admitted to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital and local health complexes. Several seriously injured were transferred to the ICU at Patuakhali CMH.

RAB-8 Company Commander Rashed said that seriously injured DAD Omar is currently receiving treatment in the ICU of Patuakhali CMH. Traffic on the highway was halted for nearly an hour following the accident, but resumed after the rescue operations were completed.

Police have stated that an investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched, and both vehicles have been taken into custody.
