Four youths arrested in Jhikargacha with weapons and motorcycles

During an operation in Jhikargacha, Jessore, police arrested four youths with homemade firearms, walkie-talkies, sharp weapons, a toy pistol, and five motorcycles. The raid took place on Friday (October 10) around 9 PM at Sohag’s poultry farm in Auliapara village of Kauria, Jhikargacha.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargacha Police Station, Nur Mohammad Gazi, said the operation was carried out by SI Abu Hasan of the DB Police based on secret information. During the raid, four individuals – Yunus Ali (30), Mahbub (35), Shimul Hossain (38), and Hasib Hossain (25) – were arrested.

Some main suspects, including Sohag, escaped after sensing the police presence. Recovered from the scene were homemade firearms, rams, Chinese machetes, sickles, hand saws, walkie-talkies, toy pistols, imported liquor, reflective jackets, masks, torches, CCTV cameras, gold measuring meters, hammers, and various other tools.

Additional Police Superintendent Abul Bashar said that it is initially suspected that the arrested individuals are members of an organized robbery gang and have long been involved in extortion, drug trafficking, and arms dealing. The investigation is ongoing, and operations continue to apprehend the fugitives.
