Former Member of Parliament and political analyst Golam Maula Rony has commented that the consequences of offensive and vulgar slogans being used against Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman will not be good. He issued this warning in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 12).

In the post, Rony said that if Chhatra Dal and Jubodal were to use similar slogans against the leaders of those who are using offensive slogans like "Tarique Rahman is a crow on a tin roof" and "We pay extortion money at Paltan, it goes to London" at BUET, Dhaka University, and various other places, politics would no longer be confined to just slogans.

He further stated that such a cycle of reciprocal slogans and aggressive politics could lead to a transition from "the past violence of knives, machetes, and vein-slitting" to the use of "modern weapons like AK-47s and sniper rifles."

Rony warned that such a situation of extreme violence would be most profitable for those who are trying to establish the country as a "militant state" and bring in a United Nations peacekeeping force.
