Leaders of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir have commented that a political party has started murder, extortion, and rape across the country even before coming to power. They stated that the people of the country do not want to see murderers, rapists, and extortionists in power. The leaders made these remarks at a rally on Saturday (July 12), held after a protest march organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan South branch of Chhatra Shibir to protest against extortion and terrorist activities nationwide.

Speaking at the rally in front of Mitford Hospital, the Central Literature and Publications Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Sadiq Kayem, said that while efforts are being made to realize the aspiration for a discrimination-free Bangladesh by the martyrs of the "July Revolution," they are witnessing public terrorist activities, extortion, gang rape, and people being killed with stones, reminiscent of the pre-Islamic era (Ayyam-e Jahiliyyah). Referring to the incident of October 28, 2006, he said that a certain party is currently trying to get a taste of power by killing people with stones.

The Central Office Secretary of Chhatra Shibir, Sibgatullah Sibga, said, "Yesterday, terrorists tried to intimidate us by murdering my brother in Mitford. They have not spared a single village, market, shop, or institution in Bangladesh from extortion." He warned that the people of Bangladesh would oust these extortionists in the same way they ousted "fascist Hasina."

Helal Uddin, the President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Shibir, said that the "graveyard of Awami Jahiliyyah" was created during the July Revolution, but now a "Nationalist Jahiliyyah" is emerging. He cautioned that if the terrorists are not reined in, students and the public will take to the streets to resist them.

Also speaking at the protest march and rally were Central Students' Rights Secretary Amirul Islam, Jagannath University branch President Md. Riazul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan East branch President Asif Abdullah, and other leaders.
