The Government has dissolved the existing Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). In the newly formed interim management, the responsibility of the country’s cricket board has been entrusted to former captain Tamim Iqbal.
According to the government’s decision, an 11-member adhoc committee has been formed as part of the board’s restructuring. Tamim Iqbal, as the head of this committee, will oversee the board’s activities for the next three months and prepare for the upcoming elections.
Earlier, during the BCB elections held last October, allegations of irregularities and abuse of power were raised. In that context, the government decided to dissolve the board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul.
After assuming his new responsibilities, Tamim received greetings from Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In a social media message, he praised Tamim’s leadership and expressed hope that his experience would help advance Bangladesh cricket both domestically and internationally.
The decision to restructure the board has been taken as part of reforms in the national sports sector. Although the new committee will serve temporarily, there are plans to establish permanent leadership through an acceptable election within the specified timeframe.
Cricket experts believe that this new leadership will increase administrative transparency and accountability and bring positive changes to cricket in the country.
