By defeating Djibouti 3-0 in Casablanca, Egypt has confirmed its qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. By topping Group A, Egypt becomes the third African country, after Morocco and Tunisia, to secure a place in the World Cup.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored two goals, while Ibrahim Adel added one for the Pharaohs. Salah has now scored a total of nine goals in this long qualifying campaign.

Meanwhile, Ghana defeated the Central African Republic 5-0 and will secure World Cup qualification with just one point in their final match. Cape Verde drew 3-3 with Libya, increasing their chances of topping the group; they will confirm first place if they defeat Eswatini on Monday.

The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and will take place from June 11 to July 19.
