After a long battle with cancer, popular Marathi and Hindi television actress Priya Marathe passed away at the age of 38. She died at her residence on Mira Road in Mumbai early Sunday morning at 4 a.m., leaving the entertainment industry in mourning.
Priya Marathe began her acting career in 2005 with the Marathi serial Ya Sukhano Ya. She later gained recognition for her role in the long-running serial Char Divas Saasche. In 2008, she entered Bollywood, appearing in the film Humne Jeena Seekh Liya.
She achieved widespread popularity in Hindi television through her roles as Varsha Deshpande and Jhumri in Ekta Kapoor’s production Pavitra Rishta. In addition, she also won hearts as a stand-up comedian.
Co-actress Usha Nadkarni expressed her grief, saying, “Priya was always cheerful and mingled with everyone. Her passing at such a young age is extremely sorrowful.”
The sudden death of 38-year-old Priya has left fans across India and around the world deeply saddened.
