Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not preparing for a ceasefire but is instead gearing up to launch a new attack on Ukraine. Amid this situation, Putin is set to meet with US President Donald Trump in Alaska for a peace talk.
In a video message posted on social media Monday night, Zelensky said that reports from Ukraine’s intelligence and military officials clearly indicate that Putin wants to present Friday’s meeting with Trump as a personal success but will continue the war as before.
He further stated, “There is no sign of Russia preparing to end the war. Instead, they are redeploying troops and weapons in a way that signals a new attack. No one preparing for peace acts like this.”
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s southern front, said Russia is moving some military units in the Zaporizhzhia region for a new offensive.
Earlier on Monday, Zelensky warned that if Russia is given any concessions, they will not stop the war. “Russia is unwilling to end the massacre, so they should not be rewarded or given any benefits,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
