The process of refixing the salaries of government officers and employees under the new national pay structure will begin tomorrow, Monday (October 5). The process must be completed online through the Pay Fixation module of iBAS++.
The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance has instructed that the pay fixation of all government officers and employees must be completed by October 20. However, the process will not be completed simply by providing information about the current salary and designation. Various important details from an employee’s career must also be presented accurately.
During the pay fixation process, information regarding previous salary fixation, promotions, transfers, time scales, selection grades and higher grades must be provided. Relevant office orders and necessary documents supporting this information must also be kept ready.
This is because if any part of the information submitted online is incorrect or incomplete, complications may arise in determining the new basic salary. This could also affect calculations of arrears or outstanding salary payments.
Before starting the pay fixation process through iBAS++, government officers and employees have been advised to keep several important pieces of information at hand. These include the National Identity Card number, date of birth, current designation and grade, date of joining the service and the basic salary applicable as of June 30, 2026.
Information about previous salary fixation, promotions or transfers, time scales, selection grades or higher grades obtained during the career will also be required. Employees have been advised to keep office orders and other documents supporting these matters ready.
The mobile number registered with iBAS++ must also remain active. If necessary, that number may be used for communication or verification during the process.
If the name, NID number, date of birth, designation, grade or basic salary information entered during pay fixation is incorrect, it may have to be corrected later. Similarly, if information about promotions, transfers, time scales or higher grades received during the service period is omitted, inconsistencies may arise in the calculation of the new salary.
Therefore, employees are being urged to prepare all the information after checking it against their official service records before entering it online.
However, filling out and submitting the online form will not by itself make the pay fixation final. The relevant accounts office will verify the information submitted online against the employee’s original service records. If any discrepancy is found between the information and the documents, correction may be required or allowed.
If any complications arise while entering the information, assistance can be sought from the relevant accounts officer.
Once the submitted information has been verified and found to be correct, the relevant salary and bill-paying officer will approve the pay fixation. After that, iBAS++ will automatically generate a special verification number.
The verification number and the newly determined basic salary will subsequently be recorded in the employee’s official service records.
After the pay fixation is completed, the October salary bill will be prepared based on the new basic salary. At the same time, the difference between the new and previous salaries will be calculated to determine approximately three months of arrears.
However, the amount of arrears will not be the same for all officers and employees. The calculation will depend on various factors, including the basic salary as of June 30, 2026, the salary determined under the new structure, the relevant grade and the effective date of the new salary.
For this reason, during the pay fixation process, greater importance is being placed not only on the current salary information but also on accurately providing all previous salary fixation details and changes throughout an employee’s career.
