Maximum Security at Shahjalal Airport Ahead of Tarique Rahman’s Arrival

Ahead of the arrival of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, strict security measures were enforced at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and surrounding areas. On Thursday afternoon, law enforcement personnel were deployed along the VIP gate and adjacent roads.

Police, RAB, and army personnel were positioned along the road from the VIP gate to the main highway leading to the pre-designated reception area in East Dhaka. Due to security concerns, ordinary passengers were not allowed entry, and journalists covering the arrival had to stay about 200 yards from the VIP gate.

Tarique Rahman, accompanied by his family, landed at 11:39 AM. BNP Standing Committee members welcomed him at the airport’s red zone. Authorities stated the heightened security measures were taken to maintain a calm and safe environment and may be further strengthened if necessary.
