Apple has released an important security update for older iPhone and iPad models. The update protects users from a powerful hacking toolkit known as “DarkSword.”
The update, included in iOS 18.7.7 and iPadOS 18.7.7 released on Wednesday, addresses web-based attacks. DarkSword enables hackers to access devices running older software.
Experts note that the method can compromise devices when users visit malicious websites, even if disguised as legitimate sites. Data such as personal messages, browsing history, location, and cryptocurrency can be stolen.
The update primarily targets devices that cannot run the latest iOS 26, where users are not automatically protected. Devices with automatic updates enabled will receive the update automatically. Lockdown mode provides additional security. Experts advise users to install the latest update promptly to protect personal data.
