According to the Ministry of Education’s 2026 holiday schedule, colleges will have a continuous 26-day holiday from 18 February to 25 March, including Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and summer recess. The schedule also accounts for 26 March, Independence and National Day, and the subsequent weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, with classes resuming on 29 March.
Meanwhile, government primary schools, government and private secondary schools, vocational schools and colleges, diploma institutes, BMT colleges, and vocational colleges will begin Ramadan holidays from 8 March, resuming classes on 29 March.
Other major holidays have also been scheduled. For Eid-ul-Azha, colleges will be closed for 10 days from 24 May to 5 June. During Durga Puja, Bijoya Dashami, Prabaran Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja, institutions will remain closed from 18 to 29 October. Winter vacation is scheduled from 17 December to 31 December, lasting 11 days.
As in previous years, three days of reserved leave are provided for college heads to use as needed.
While the extended holiday provides students and guardians a chance for rest and preparation, authorities stress that classes must resume on the scheduled date to maintain continuity in education.
