Joint operation arrests two Jubo League leaders in Nalchity with drugs and weapons

In a special joint operation in Nalchity Upazila, Jhalakathi, two leaders of the Jubo League were arrested with yaba tablets, cannabis, and homemade weapons.

The arrested individuals are Gias Mallik (35) and Sohrab Akon (35), residents of Gouripasha village, Nalchity municipality. Gias Mallik was the Secretary of Ward 8 of the Jubo League, and Sohrab Akon held the same position in Ward 7.

On the night of Wednesday (February 4), a joint team conducted the operation in Onurag village of the municipality and arrested them. During the raid, authorities recovered 42 yaba tablets, cannabis, various drug consumption paraphernalia, a homemade weapon, and cash from drug sales.

The arrested were handed over to Nalchity Police Station for further legal action. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchity Police Station Md. Ashraf Ali confirmed the arrests and said cases under relevant laws are being prepared.
