In the ongoing T20 World Cup, Ireland achieved a historic team total against Oman, scoring 235 runs at Colombo SSC Ground. This was the highest team score of the tournament so far and the second-highest in T20 World Cup history.

After losing the toss, Ireland batted first and had a slow start. By the end of the powerplay, they had lost three wickets. With the fourth wicket falling at 64 runs, the team faced more pressure.

However, acting captain Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany’s partnership changed the course of the match. Delany scored 56 runs off 30 balls before being dismissed. Tucker and George Dockrell added a storming partnership, scoring 93 runs in the death overs. Tucker remained unbeaten on 94 runs off 51 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes, narrowly missing a century by six runs. Dockrell scored 35 off just 9 balls. Ireland finished at 235 for 5 in 20 overs.

Chasing 236, Oman initially showed resilience, reaching 100 runs for 3 wickets in 10.5 overs, aided by a 73-run partnership between Amir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza. After that partnership was broken, Oman’s batting collapsed, losing the last seven wickets for just 42 runs. Kaleem scored 50 runs, and Hammad Mirza added 46. Oman was bowled out for 139 runs in 18 overs. Josh Little took three wickets for Ireland. Ireland won by 96 runs, asserting their strong position in the tournament
