Due to strict and complex conditions for MPO registration, many technical teachers who were recommended in the sixth Gazette had long been deprived of MPO benefits. Now, the Directorate of Technical Education is considering relaxing these conditions, potentially providing relief to teachers who have faced long-term difficulties.

A reliable source at the directorate stated that in the recent 50th MPO committee meeting, 142 MPO applications were rejected for failing to meet criteria such as student numbers, exam takers, and pass rates. Many new teachers failed to meet these conditions considering the 2025 results.

However, the directorate is now considering not imposing these conditions for newly appointed teachers, potentially allowing previously rejected applications to be included in MPO.

Director (PIU) of the Directorate, Engineer Md. Maksudur Rahman, said positive consideration is being given to the rejected applications and a final decision may be taken in the upcoming MPO committee meeting.

Earlier, teachers held a human chain at the directorate demanding relief on two MPO-related issues. During a meeting with the director-general, they voiced their concerns, and assurances were given to resolve them.

Teachers claim that even though they were appointed through the same gazette, teachers under secondary and higher education receive timely MPO and salary benefits, while many technical teachers have long been excluded, creating inequity.

They demand the immediate removal of conditions and implementation of MPO benefits, including back pay, from the joining date. They also hope that the relevant authorities will act swiftly; otherwise, they plan peaceful and democratic action.
