Grandmother and granddaughter murdered in Ishwardi: Midnight atrocity sparks grief and outrage in the area

In Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna district, allegations have arisen that a grandmother and her granddaughter were murdered in the middle of the night in Bhabanipur Uttarpara, Dashuria Union. On Saturday (28 February) morning, police recovered their bodies from separate locations. The incident has caused grief and anger throughout the community.

The deceased are identified as Sufia Khatun (65) and her granddaughter Jamila Akter (15), residents of Bhabanipur Uttarpara. Police reported that the elderly woman’s bloodied body was found in the courtyard of the house in the morning. Later, during a search for the missing girl, her body was found in a neighboring mustard field. According to locals, crying sounds were heard at some point during the night, which stopped after a short while.

A relative of the family claimed that the perpetrators entered the house intending to rape the girl. The grandmother intervened, and as a result, she was killed. Later, it is believed that the girl was abducted, taken to the field, raped, and then murdered. However, the authenticity of these claims is pending confirmation from the post-mortem and forensic examination results.

The Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station stated that the incident is being investigated with the utmost seriousness. Operations to identify and arrest the suspects are ongoing. The Additional Superintendent of Police also confirmed that the real facts will be uncovered, and the culprits will be brought under the law.

Meanwhile, the horrific incident has spread fear among locals. They demand the swift and impartial arrest of the perpetrators and exemplary punishment. According to them, without strict justice for such crimes, insecurity in society will further increase.

This double murder has not only devastated a family but also the entire region. The community now expects a transparent investigation to uncover the truth and ensure justice.
