EJAE, the singer and songwriter who gained worldwide recognition for the hit song “Golden” from Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters, has begun a new chapter in her life. She has married music producer and songwriter Sam Kim. The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday (October 17) in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
Details of the wedding were featured in an interview published by Vogue magazine on Monday (October 19). The ceremony was held in an intimate setting, attended by family members and close friends.
The couple exchanged vows in an open-air ceremony at Stage 28 in the Gangdong area of Seoul. The venue holds special significance for EJAE, as it was once the home of her grandfather, veteran Korean actor Shin Young-kyun. EJAE's elder brother also got married at the same location.
EJAE and Sam Kim had initially planned to marry in California, United States, in November. However, they later changed their plans and decided to hold the wedding in South Korea. They also brought forward the wedding date.
The couple had only four months to prepare for the ceremony. Following the success of KPop Demon Hunters, their wedding plans had already been delayed because of promotional commitments and other professional engagements.
EJAE and Sam Kim first met in May 2017 while working together on a musical project. Their relationship initially developed as a professional collaboration before gradually turning into a romantic relationship. After years of being together, they got engaged in June 2025.
The wedding ceremony also included the traditional Korean ritual known as paebaek. During this ceremony, newlyweds bow before their elders and receive their blessings.
EJAE began her journey in the music industry as a trainee at SM Entertainment. She later established herself in the K-pop industry as a songwriter, contributing to several popular songs, including Red Velvet's “Psycho” and aespa's “Drama” and “Armageddon.”
However, a major turning point in her career came with “Golden,” featured in Netflix's animated film KPop Demon Hunters. As a co-writer and vocalist on the song, EJAE gained widespread recognition among international audiences.
In February 2026, “Golden” won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 68th Grammy Awards. The achievement marked another significant milestone in EJAE's musical career.
Amid her growing international popularity, the singer has now embarked on a new journey in her personal life as well.
