The price of gold in the local market has increased again within a single day, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS). Under the new decision, the price per bhori has increased by Tk 2,216.
The announcement was made in a press release by BAJUS on Thursday morning. The organization said the price increase was due to a rise in the price of refined gold in the local market. The new prices came into effect at 10:00 am.
According to the new rates, 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk 244,711 per bhori. In addition, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 233,572 per bhori.
Similarly, 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 200,213 per bhori, while traditional method gold is priced at Tk 163,063 per bhori.
Earlier on Wednesday, gold prices had also increased. At that time, 22-carat gold was priced at Tk 242,495 per bhori. The repeated increase within just one day has sparked discussion in the market.
According to BAJUS data, gold prices have been adjusted 63 times so far this year. Among these, prices increased 35 times and decreased 28 times.
Last year also saw major volatility in the gold market. In 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times, of which 64 times prices increased and 29 times decreased.
Businessmen say fluctuations in the international gold market and local market conditions are driving frequent price changes in Bangladesh.
