Bangladesh has imported a large quantity of explosives from India for mining operations at the Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited in Dinajpur. The explosives arrived at the Benapole land port on Wednesday afternoon in three trucks.

Port authorities said the first shipment included 40 metric tons of emulsion explosives and 100 kilometers of detonating cord. These explosives were supplied by Keltech Energies Limited, a company based in Bengaluru, India.

After the consignment arrived at the Benapole port, customs formalities were completed. The explosives were then stored under strict security measures.

Benapole Land Port Director Shamin Hossain said security has been significantly strengthened across the port area following the arrival of the explosives. Authorities are maintaining maximum alert to prevent any accident or unwanted situation.

He further said law enforcement agencies are ensuring the safe clearance, storage, and transportation of the explosives. Under police protection, the explosives will be transported to the Madhyapara mine in Dinajpur within the scheduled time.

Sources said explosives are regularly used in stone extraction at the Madhyapara Granite Mining Company. The import is expected to play an important role in maintaining production at the mine.
