The family of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia paid respects at her grave. On Friday morning, around 10:30 am, they gathered at Zia Udyan to pray for the soul of the late leader.
Present were her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko’s wife Shamila Rahman, granddaughter Zaima Rahman, Jahia Rahman, and other family members. They recited the Holy Quran, offered prayers, and participated in du’a and munajat. After about twenty minutes, the family left Zia Udyan.
From Fajr prayers, the grave was open to the general public for prayers, though entry was temporarily restricted for about an hour to ensure security when the family arrived.
On the previous day, Thursday, BNP leaders and citizens from various walks of life had also visited the grave to offer prayers and pay tribute. Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. Her funeral and burial took place on Wednesday at Zia Udyan beside the grave of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman, with people from all walks of life attending.
