Mirza Abbas, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, said that former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia prioritized the people and democracy despite personal suffering and oppression. He commented that Bangladesh has reached an important stage in democracy by following the path of her sacrifices.

Speaking to journalists after paying respects at Khaleda Zia’s grave at Zia Udyan after Friday prayers, he stated that Khaleda Zia endured all hardships for the people. Unfortunately, she could not witness the fruits of her struggle for democracy.

Mirza Abbas further remarked that Khaleda Zia played an enormous role in positioning BNP as a strong political force. He alleged that political vendetta against her created circumstances that endangered her life.

Many people, including BNP leaders, supporters, and ordinary citizens, paid tribute and prayed for her soul with flowers at Zia Udyan after Friday prayers. The atmosphere was highly emotional, with many shedding tears.

Abul Kalam, 62, from Lalmohon, Bhola, said that he visited the grave since he could not attend her funeral. He commented that Khaleda Zia was a dedicated leader of the nation, and such individuals are rarely found.

Earlier, Maulana Md. Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khalafat Majlis, also visited the grave to offer prayers for the late leader. He urged the nation to pray for her and described Khaleda Zia as a symbol of uncompromising leadership.

Shayrul Kabir Khan from BNP’s media cell said that Khaleda Zia’s life was dedicated to the nation and democracy, and her ideals will continue to advance the democratic process in Bangladesh.
