Trump said, “Europe wants to be politically correct, and that is why it is becoming weak.” He also described Europe’s immigration policies as “disastrous,” adding that if the current path continues, many European countries could cease to exist in the future.
Trump’s remarks come a week after the release of his administration’s national security strategy document, which identified Europe as a “threat to civilization” and called for opposition to Europe’s current trajectory.
In the interview, Trump stated that he does not intend to interfere in Europe’s internal affairs, but he could support candidates or political parties in European elections. He cited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is seeking assistance from the United States, but clarified that no agreements have yet been finalized.
Trump also sharply criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan, saying, “He is a terrible, incompetent, and filthy mayor elected by immigrant votes.” This statement aligns with the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory.
He further described Paris and Sweden as troubled countries. Sweden recorded 92 murders in 2024, compared to 250 in Memphis, USA.
Trump’s rhetoric about Europe and Mayor Khan has previously sparked debate at the United Nations General Assembly and other international forums. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other leaders have publicly supported Mayor Khan without direct criticism.
