The body of Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old Delhi University student who went missing six days ago, has been recovered from the Yamuna River by police. Her family, residents of Tripura, have identified the body. Police stated that the remains have been sent for post-mortem examination, and a suicide note was also found.

According to police sources, Sneha was not struggling with her studies; rather, her mental instability stemmed from family issues. During the investigation, police tracked Sneha's movements using technological surveillance and confirmed her last known location was the Signature Bridge in North Delhi. Her body was discovered in the Yamuna River, beneath a flyover near Gita Colony, approximately 10 kilometers from the Signature Bridge.

Police stated that the cab driver who dropped her off at the bridge confirmed her presence there. Eyewitnesses also reported seeing a girl standing on the bridge who then disappeared shortly after. Following this, a search operation was launched by the police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), covering the area from Nigam Bodh Ghat in North Delhi to Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

On the morning of July 7, Sneha had sent emails and messages to several close friends. Her friends informed investigators that she had been severely mentally unstable for several months. Sneha's family and some friends have alleged that there was inadequate surveillance around the Signature Bridge area at the time of the incident, claiming that no CCTV cameras were operational on or near the bridge.
