Indian cricket star Jasprit Bumrah has come under social media criticism after South Indian popular actor Ram Charan mistakenly referred to him as a “footballer.” A video of his comment made during an event went viral, triggering memes and widespread discussion on social media. Later, the actor publicly apologized for the mistake.

Recently, the audio launch event of Ram Charan’s new movie “Peddi” was held in Bhopal. Actress Janhvi Kapoor, music director A. R. Rahman, and other members of the film team attended the event.

During the event, journalists asked Ram Charan to describe several Indian cricketers in one word. He described Sachin Tendulkar as a “long legendary journey,” MS Dhoni as “cool,” and Virat Kohli as “fire.” However, while speaking about Bumrah, he mistakenly called him a “footballer.” The video quickly spread across social media.

Facing criticism, Ram Charan later posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying that the mistake happened due to excitement and crowd pressure. He apologized to Bumrah and stated that he is a big fan of the Indian fast bowler.

Meanwhile, Bumrah’s performance in the ongoing IPL has also been widely discussed. Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that the bowler has not yet fully recovered from the impact of an injury sustained during the T20 World Cup. In the current season, he has taken only four wickets in 13 matches.

On the other hand, interest is also increasing around the movie “Peddi.” This rural sports-action film will portray sports, emotions, family relationships, and struggle. Ram Charan will be seen in a completely new look in the movie, which has already generated discussion among fans.
