The globally popular band BTS has won the “Artist of the Year” award for the second consecutive time at the American Music Awards (AMA). With this achievement, the seven-member South Korean band has further strengthened its dominance in the global music industry.

At the event held in Las Vegas, USA, BTS also won several other major categories. Their new album’s lead song “Swim” won “Song of the Summer”. The band also received the award for Best Male K-pop Artist.

After taking a break for military service in 2022, BTS returned to the music industry in March this year with a new album titled “Eerirang”. Since their comeback, the band has created a huge global response and is currently on a world tour worth nearly one billion dollars.

While receiving the award, band leader RM said, “This is a fan-voted award, so we are grateful to all ARMYs around the world.”

BTS’s fanbase “ARMY” is considered one of the strongest global fan communities, playing a key role in the group’s success through social media, streaming platforms, and concerts.

Other artists also gained attention at the event. Sabrina Carpenter won “Album of the Year” for “Man’s Best Friend”, along with Best Female Pop Artist and Best Pop Album.

The animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters” song “Golden” won Song of the Year.

Other winners included Justin Bieber, Shakira, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, and Bruno Mars.

The event was hosted by Queen Latifah, with performances by multiple artists and bands.

Analysts say BTS has once again proven that K-pop is not just regional but a powerful part of global music culture.
