Bangladeshi-American DJ and musician Sanjoy has been selected to perform at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026, and he has also been featured in the tournament’s official album. He confirmed the news himself through a social media post.
Sanjoy said that this is a major achievement in his journey, representing years of hard work and dedication. He grew up in San Jose, California, USA, where he developed his musical career in a multicultural environment that later inspired him to pursue international opportunities.
In his Facebook post, he wrote that performing at the opening stage of the world’s biggest sporting event and being part of its official album is one of the most proud moments of his life.
He further mentioned that his track “Sir Sir” has been included in the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack. He also worked alongside international artists such as Nora Fatehi and VEDO in this project.
The official World Cup album will also feature songs from globally renowned artists including The Rolling Stones, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, Burna Boy, and Rema, who are widely popular in the global music industry.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Separate opening ceremonies are planned in all three countries. Sanjoy has been selected among various international artists to perform on the opening stage, representing Bangladesh.
He is also expected to share the stage with global stars such as Katy Perry and Lisa of BLACKPINK, according to reports.
Born in Srimangal, Sanjoy spent his childhood in Chattogram’s Love Lane area before moving to the United States with his family. His passion for music was also influenced by his family background—his mother used to sing, and his grandmother was also involved in music.
Many see this international recognition as an inspiring achievement for the younger generation of Bangladesh.
